Maintenance is an important guarantee to resume operation after a failure of steam turbine. The maintenance training could improve maintenance efficiency for the maintenance personnel and accomplish the maintenance work quickly, accurately and efficiently. However, the current maintenance training ways drop behind, which has a significant impact on maintenance of steam turbine. The traditional maintenance training patterns are unable to meet the maintenance requirements of modern steam turbine. Virtual reality technology is an effective way to solve the maintenance problems above for improving and enhancing the maintenance training.Disassembly is the major work in the process of maintenance. The disassembly of steam turbine is mainly discussed in this paper. On this basis, the simulation of maintenance process is carried out for a model of marine steam turbine. And a virtual maintenance system of steam turbine is developed, which is used for the guidance of steam turbine maintenance training. Firstly, the steam turbine disassembly is analyzed and summarized in detail, and the steam turbine maintenance scheme is established. Through the extraction and supplement of steam turbine disassembly information, the steam turbine model is built by adopting the graph theory and shown by using disassembly graph. Then the disassembly directions of steam turbine components are judged and calculated, and the disassembly directions of components are obtained. After that, selective sequences are given by decomposing the disassembly graph gradually. Optimum or sub-optimal selective disassembly sequences are got by adopting optimization algorithm. And then the model of virtual maintenance environment in accordance with the real steam turbine installation and operation environment is established. The maintenance of steam turbine is simulated under this circumstance. Finally, a virtual maintenance system of steam turbine is developed on the basis of combining disassembly information. The visualization of maintenance process is achieved. It can be used in maintenance training and guidance, which has a strong practical value and significance.
