Research On Plant Landscapes About Five Of The Campuses In The College Town Of Xianlin, Nanjing

Campuses, where most teachers and students live, dwell, study, make their communion and get-together, has close relationship with students'daily life. The virescence of campus is not only an important part of the campus construction and urban virescence, but it's also an example in developing a high-leveled and normalized urban greenspace. A perfect green system of campus has an underlying influence on the enhancement of students'education and spiritual civilization; meanwhile it also has great significance in directing the normal urban virescence and landscape construction.In this paper,5 different kinds of campuses in the college town of XianLin, NanJing were chosen as the object of research. First, through the fact finding of the plant landscapes, the plant landscapes of the college town in XianLin were discussed theoretically and examples were given for analysis. The five chosen colleges were thoroughly discussed in the composition, application frequencies, health status, and seasonal aspect of woody plant species. At last, an overall evaluation was given by the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP), which was known as qualitative as well as quantitative, to analyze the plant landscapes of the campuses in the college town of XianLin, NanJing. Through those courses, the status and characteristics of the plant landscapes were gained, besides, some optimizational suggestions were put forward. The main conclusions are as follows:1 Most plant landscapes of the campuses are not treated as a whole, the students' living quarters aren't paid enough attention at large. The greenspace don't have sufficient multiple spaces to meet the students'demands and there aren't ample supporting facilities. Besides, the plant species are poor, so as to the pattern of the structure. The skill of plant design should be raised to a higher level to resolve the normal problems, such as heaping, nursery and group.2 The investigation shows that there are about 188 main species of woody plants, which belonged to 59 families and 116 genera. They take up almost 29% of the green plants, which posted the poor variety of the green plants in campuses. The majority of the campuses shown a sound ratio on the varieties of trees, but part of them need a mild adjustment. Expect Nanjing University of Finance and Economics, the other four universities are nicer on the ratio of trees to shrubs. As the high appearance of commonly used plants, there seemed to be general comparability in many plant landscapes of the campuses. However, the use of exotic trees comes to uniqueness. Generally, most of the plants are in a healthy status, and there is high variety of the characterstics to admire, so the plant landscapes are with us all the year round.3 Through the overall evaluation on the plant landscapes in the 5 campuses, the result shows that the comprehensive quality of plant landscapes in Nanjing University of Finance and Economics is at the top of the scores. And all the sectorizations get average scores which make the plant landscapes come to uniformity. Among the different sectorizations, the fallow land gains the highest comprehensive mean value; the teaching area is placed in the middle, at last the students'living quarters. This order indicated that the plant landscapes in teaching area and fallow land were paid higher attention.
