Research On The University Campus Water-Edge Landscape Plan And Design

With the rapid development of education and expansion of the number and size of national universities, a series of problems about campus planning and design were emerged. The design process is extremely compressed and the emphasis of overall campus planning and landscape planning declined, all of this lead to "emergency" school production. In this background, as an important element of landscape design, the application of water in the planning and design are constantly weakening and perfunctory. The proper use of the water environment plays a key role on the creation of an affinity and natural campus landscape environment, and it has practical meaning of importance to carry out relevant research and empirical.Through the literature searching of the waterfront, waterscape and water-edge landscape planning and design, we found that there are a few of researches concerning campus water landscape, moreover, the researches about water concept related campus planning less. Since the important role of water landscape in the campus environment and the exploring stage of current research, our research which concerning the campus water landscape of combining theoretical and empirical was more theoretical and practical significance of groundbreaking and innovative.Coincides with the Baima campus of Nanjing Agricultural University started, the author had the honor to participate in the planning of the Baima campus landscape and design practice. The Hanzi Dam in this campus has a natural water environment, which is extremely suitable for transforming to natural campus water landscape and provide an excellent empirical study materials and foundation to carry out theoretical studies. So, this paper starts from the current situation of the campus landscape design, with the related methods, sums up the theory of university water-edge landscape design. Based with the research and interrelated concept and theory, the paper summarizes the contents on concept of university landscape plan and design, range of water-edge landscape, space of water-edge landscape, composition and types. The author studied on the typical projects of water-edge landscape design in and out of China, show the main points on humanity and nature water-edge landscape design. Theory return to practice with the developing of the project on Nanjing University Han Lake Park water-edge landscape plan and design. Important meaning will be showed on the research of theory and practice, concluding the native of university water-edge landscape design and exploring new methods on that.
