This study was conducted to determine the toxicological effect of high level Zinc and/or Copper diet on weaned piglets. The growth performance, serum indexes, serum Cu, Zn and Fe were detected, and by this to evaluate the toxicological effect of high level Zinc and Copper diet. The study consists of three parts and the general results were presented as follows:In the first part, an experiment was designed to study the effects of high level Zinc or (and) Copper diet on the growth performance in weaned piglets.48 weaned pilglets with body weight of 7.80±0.44kg were randomly divided into four groups (4 replicates with 3 piglets in each replicate) and fed diets with different level of dietary Zinc and Copper. The piglets in contronl group (C) fed diet with low level of Copper (20mg/kg CuSO4-5H2O) and Zinc (80mg/kg ZnO), in high level Copper group (HC), piglets fed diet with high level of Copper (250mg/kg CuSO4-5H2O) and low level of Zinc (80mg/kg ZnO), in high level Zinc group (HZ), piglets fed diet with low of Copper (20mg/kg CUSO4·5H2O) and high level of Zinc (2500mg/kg ZnO), and piglets in high level Zinc and Copper group(HH) fed diet with high of Copper (250mg/kg CuSO4-5H2O) and high level of Zinc (2500mg/kg ZnO). At the end of the experiment, the growth performance in four group was measured, the result shows that, compared with C group, the difference of growth performance among HC, HZ and HH groups are not significant(P>0.05). Meanwhile, compared with HC and HZ groups, the end weight and ADG of HH group have a tendency of decline and FCR has tendency of increase. Also, compared with C group, the FCR of HC and HZ group has a tendency of increase. The experiment demonstrated that diet adding high level Zinc and Copper has adverse effect on performance. In the second part, an experiment was designed to study the effects of high level Zinc or (and) Copper diet on the serum indexes in weaned piglets. Piglets grouping were designed as same as the first experiment. The result showed that serum albumin of HH piglets was decreased by 13.9% than that of HC piglets (P<0.05). Serum alkaline phosphatase in HH and HZ group was significantly higher than that of C group (P<0.05). Serum urea nitrogen in HH group was significantly increased (P<0.05). But serum total cholesterol and total triglyceride in each group showed no notable difference (P>0.05).In the third part, an experiment was designed to study the effects of high level Zinc and/or Copper diet on the tissue minerals level in weaned piglets. Piglets grouping were the same as the first experiment. The result showed that the level of serum Cu, Zn and Fe had no significant difference in the four groups (P>0.05); Serum Zn in HZ group was increased by 5.4% compared with C group, and in HH group was increased by 77.2%, but the difference was still not significant.
