Introduction Of New Varieties Of Everblooming Camellia And The Key Technology Of Production

This paper used new varieties of everblooming camellia introduction as a breakthrough, selected one fine variety that adapts growth in Ningbo and surroundings, especially suitable for potted flower production, by cultivated on three introduced everblooming camellia new varieties. The selected good variety-- Camellia azalea is unique in all Camellia species founded, which leaves and flowers shapes like azaleas, flowers dense, bright red, has a high ornamental value. The another unique characteristic of Camellia azalea is long flowering period which from April to December. Made up the blank of no Camellia species flowering in summer and winter. Based on cultivation of the introduced varieties, this paper researching on the biological & ecological characteristics, breeding technologies, and key technology of production. It also established breeding technology system and standardized producting technology system. After cultivation in Ningbo, it's cold resistance had greatly improved, could be safely planted in the ground greenhouse during the winter, suitable for promotion in Ningbo and surroundings by the form of pot flowers.The result shows that, the two new varieties of Camellia amplexicaulis that introduced from Vietnam, are difficult to promote in the region for their poor cold tolerance and propagation. The new varieties introduced from Guangdong are suitable for planting and promotion in Ningbo and surroundings for having high ornamental value, long flowering period and good cold tolerance. Camellia azalea available tissue culture, cuttings, grafting and other methods of breeding, but the survival rate, seedling growth in terms of speed, high-grafting survival rate of grafted seedlings grow relatively fast, the shortest breeding cycle, easy to culture a variety of Shape of bonsai can be widely used in flower production of goods.
