| Purpose:To observe the effect on reflux esophagitis (RE) of deficiency-cold of spleen-stomach treated by umbilical therapy of herbal medicine. To carry out a further exploration on the mechanism to RE.Method:As for theory, we systematically review the history and progress of umbilical theory, especially its application to the digestive disease, as is one of the specially external therapies in TCM. We get a commanding view on the latest data of epidemiology,progress for diagnose and treatment and related research of RE.Based on authoritative diagnostic standard of western medicine and gastroscope for RE, referring to practice guideline Of TCM for digestive diseases compiled by the spleen-stomach branch of chinese association of chinese medicine, we select 40 qualified patients,which are divided into treatment group (omeprazole and umbilical therapy) and control group(omeprazole only) randomly. The adjustment of lifestyle and omeprazole taken orally are necessary treatment for all the patients. We set 30 days as a course and go through 2 courses. In the end,we compare the clinical presentations and gastroscopy results before and after the trial, processing the data statistically.Result:We acquire improvement in both groups in both aspects (p<0.05); for treatment group, the total effective rate regarding the improvement of symptom and gastroscope are 95% and 90%, better than 85% and 70% of the control group with statistical significance(p<0.05). All the patients have fine compliance without any obvious side effect generally or locally.Conclusion:1. Umbilical therapy with herbal medicine has some assistant effect on RE(deficiency-cold of spleen and stomach),particularly the improvement of symptoms and is convenient with little side effect.2.The mechanism and criteria for umbilical therapy deserve continuous thinking and exploration.3.The umbilical therapy can be tried on various syndromes of RE. |
