Objective:To discuss the value of D-Dimer in the diagnosis of lower limb deep venous thrombosis by measuring D-Dimer in patients with major orthopedic operations.Method:Plasma D-Dimer levels were measured in 39 patients pre-operatively and postoperatively on days 1,3,5 and 7. All the chosen patients underwent major orthopedic operations. and had no DVT symptom during the first 7 days following the operations. Results:Postoperative D-Dimer levels were significantly raised in all patients during the first week, with the largest rise on the 1st day postoperatively. The D-dimer decreased a little on the 3rd day and increased on the 5th day and became stable on the 7th day postoperatively.Conclusions:D-dimer is not a suitable indicator for early diagnosis of DVT, but can be used as an effective negative predictive value. |
