The flourished development of choral movement has a higher demand on the comprehensive capacity of choral conductor. A conductor must have a wide range of general ability, and improve these capabilities continuously. Through research, we can see that there are two reasons resulting in the uneven capacity among choral conductors. The objective reason is that the training mechanism is not perfect, the channel blocked, and the lack of scientific and reasonable education system, which make the choral conductor the lack of qualified personnel. The subjective reason is that some conductors do not establish correct concepts and can not be continuous self-improvement. To improve the comprehensive ability of choral conductor subjectively, the choral conductor must first examine self-level, correct some general misunderstanding, establish a correct concept by scientific method and avoid some basic and conceptual errors. As a conductor, it is clear to know that a good musician should have all the qualities with solid professional knowledge, a broad musical vision, a certain cultural background, advanced choral philosophy and other aspects of organizational management capabilities. At the same time, it must strengthen self-cultivation, accumulate continually, and set stage goals through amount of practice. In practice we should make self-conclusion and self-reflection, and consciously think about feasible creativity to try. In the process of theory-practice-reflection-practice, it is to achieve the ability of improvement of choral conductor by practice, and ensure the ultimate goal to move forward by reflection. The thesis is divided into five parts. The first part mainly makes a survey about the current situation of comprehensive capacity of choral conductor, proposes the necessity to improve the comprehensive ability, and explores the necessary capacity as a conductor. The second part analyzes to improve the comprehensive capacity from the basis, strengthens the basic skills in music and lays foundation for the practice. The third part discusses how to improve oneself from practice by the example of preparing the concert. The fourth part explores the importance of reflection, explains how to reflect and makes a creative study. The last part summarizes briefly other methods to improve the comprehensive capacity.
