Address forms, which is an indispensable tool in writing and interpersonal, play an important role in verbal communication. As for the foreign students, choosing the right address forms is not only represents their profound understanding in Chinese cultural connotation, but also makes approach between speaker and listener. For a long time, address forms teaching is always a hard nut in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. However, the research on it is a little bit weak. In the aspect of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, researches on address forms can provides a new angle of view for address forms researches. At the same time, it makes sense to foreign students in their study.Under the theories of sociolinguistics and pragmatics, and combining with the achievements in the research of the precedence, we analysis the actual circumstance of foreign students'studying address forms by doing a questionnaire survey. On the basis of the above study, some appropriate teaching strategies are put forward. We hope they could beused for reference in further research.This thesis will be divided into four chapters: The introduction is mainly discusses the reason and significance of this thesis, the history and current situation of studies and study theories and methods. For the purpose that readers could understand the value of this thesis.The first chapter reveals the characteristics of the address forms by analyzing the current text books for teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In the meantime, we have a research on the merits and demerits of the address forms part in the text books, and give some suggestions on the written of it.The second chapter, which bases on the questionnaire survey, is aim at mastering the actual situation of foreign students'using address forms. By analyzing a great deal of statistics, we find their difficult points and expecting study methods. We also refer to Chinese people's study methods, and hope that they would be helpful to the foreign students.The third chapter is based on the address forms research. It discusses motivation of address forms from the view of motivation of Chinese.The fourth chapter gives some advices on address forms study from two aspects: the text book and teaching. In the current circumstances and under the theory of pragmatics, we hope to through the fetter of the traditional study pattern, and provide new study methods and strategies for foreign students.Chapter conclusion comes to a conclusion. It shows the highlight of innovation and limitations, meanwhile, it looks forward to the research outlook of this thesis.
