The teaching of address forms in TCFL(Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Languge) is difficult for both of the teachers and the learners. Most researches on addresss forms are about itself.However, the research about the Chinese address forms from the TCFL aspects is rather rare, and the reseach totally for the European/American learners is even less. This is a new area for discussion about it. The thesis is based on the predecessor's studies, to contrast the Chinese/English address forms,and according to the kinship address forms and the social address forms in the the HSK level with Chinese characters, to investigate the situation of European/American learners maetering the Chinese address forms, finding out the weak link that the European/American students lie in, and make an error analysis, give some suggetions and advices on teaching according to the investigation.There are four chapters in the thesis.Chapter One is the introduction of the thesis. It mainly introduces the background and the value of this research. Making a definition and classification of address forms in this thesis and simply explained the theory and the research method.Chapter Two is mainly from the aspects of the Chinese/English kinship address forms and the Chinese/English social address forms to sum up, classify and compare in order to find out the differences. The cause of the differences on the Chinese/English address forms is the huge difference on the culture.Chapter Three will be the reseach which inspects the current situation of European/American students learning about the Chinese address forms. Analysing the cause of mistakes from the inapproriate in TCFL textbook, the lack of Chinese culture and the slip in teaching.Chapter Four will give some suggetions and advices on teaching according to the investigation.
