Due to the implementation of reform and opening-up policy as well as the globalization, China has more frequently involved in the economic activities with other countries and its enterprises are well developed with the rising of China. Nowadays, China is known as international trading giant. More and more companies do not only care about their domestic markets, but also endeavor to expand and exploit the foreign markets. The first step for them to get close to foreign customers is self-introduction, thus, the translation of company profiles plays a very important role for them to introduce themselves.The thesis is based on Nida's translation theory, especially his most influential functional equivalence theory, introduces the characteristics of company profile's materials and analyzes the factors affecting the C-E translation theory from the perspective of linguistics and culture. In the light of Nida's theory, the author puts forward new ideas and practical strategies to solve the problems and controversies in translation to ensure the translating texts could deliver precise and effective information and fulfill its function of introduction and publicity.There are many company profile samples in the thesis, and most are collected from the internet and books about translation. Thus the materials and the conclusion are believable.The thesis is divided into five parts: the first chapter is an introduction, presenting the significance of the study, research methodology and the structure of the thesis. Chapter Two is literature review to introduce the development of Nida's functional equivalence theory, and the essence and scientific basis of functional equivalence, as well as the influence of Nida's theory. Chapter Three is study of C-E translation of company profile, presenting the introduction and functions of company profiles, and characteristics of English company profile's language, analyzing factors affecting C-E translation of company profile from linguistic and cultural level. Chapter Four will make a specific analysis of the C-E translation of company profiles in light of Nida's function equivalence through the collected samples, and practical strategies, like direct transfer, abridgement, interpretation and restructuring are put forward to achieve functional equivalence. Chapter Five is conclusion. The limitations of the study and the suggestions to future research will be talked about.
