Locution is the hyponym conception of idiom. It has fixed format and is widely used in everyday conversations. Be different from other idioms, it reserves the original meanings and is flexibly used in articles. Most of the locutions have rhetorical functions and characterized by spoken language form. It can express people's social and life experience and can be considered as a kind of product of ethnic spirit and culture. Studying locutions will be significant not only in teaching but in scientific study as well.This paper researches on Korean and Chinese locution of human body, mainly on the words related to the head which refer to the Chinese and Korean dictionaries. The researching method is on the basis of the comparison between the meaning and expressions of the human body locutions and the perspective of cultural linguistics. This thesis aims for further understanding of two languages and thought in different cultural backgrounds through comparing the use of body locutions by Korean and Chinese. At the same time, the study also seeks effective learning methods to engage in natural, high-quality and fluent communications for those who have Chinese as their mother tongue and obtain the intermediate-level Korean.Based on the researches of predecessors, this paper discusses firstly on the definition of idioms and exploring the formation reasons. According to this, goes further on defining and classifying the Korean and Chinese locutions of body. it compares and studies the meaning of the body locutions with a reference to modern semantics theory and comparative method and then assorts the results. This paper also researches the general and specific characters of Chinese and Korean words of body locutions.Language and culture are inseparable. Idioms are used in everyday language of expression, so they are closely linked with people's daily life and social culture. Since Korea and China have a long culture communication history and belong to the same language phylum, they share many general features on both meaning and expressions. In other words, the same idioms combine the similar cultural characteristics between China and Korea. However, because of the differences of nationality, history, background culture, living environment, thinking method, words and characters, it presents also many differences in meaning and forms.Therefore, it will help us to understand the cultural background and the general and specific characters of the two countries, if we make a comprehensive comparison. Meanwhile through understanding the general and specific characters of the two countries, it can help learners to grasp the Korean idioms.
