Language is a mirror that reflects human life and thoughts.It is gradually generated in the process of labor for the purpose of communication.People put their emotions,thoughts,concepts,attitudes and folk customs into their vocabulary,so vocabulary has become the most reflective part of culture.Idiom is a special kind of language,which reflects people's wisdom.It is not only the treasure of language,the crystallization of national culture,but also the "living fossil" of expression culture.However,animal idioms are an important part of idioms with uniqueness and story-telling.Animal idioms have different ways of expression or meanings in different languages.For learners,learning Chinese idioms related to animals can not only increase their Chinese vocabulary,but also help them understand each other's cultures.Therefore,the teaching of animal i dioms is one of the indispensable contents in teaching Chinese as a foreign language.With the development of The Times and language contact,the number of new words and loanwords in each language is also increasing.Learning anim al-related vocabulary not only enables learners to understand the surface meani ng and deep connotation of animal idioms,but also stimulates learners' enthusiasm for learning Chinese culture.Based on the theoretical basis and methodolog y of cultural linguistics,this paper analyzes and compares Chinese animal idioms and Korean animal idioms,analyzes the symbolic meaning of animal images,and further explores the relationship between Chinese and Korean idioms and national cultures.This paper is divided into four chapters:The first part is the introduction,which first clearly defines the basic concept of idiom,especially the differences between Chinese and Korean idioms.Then combined with the previous studies,the characteristics and functions of idioms are explained.Finally,the origin of Chinese and Korean idioms are classified and sorted out.Chinese idioms mainly come from ancient myths or fables,historical stories,poems,oral conventions,Buddhism and other religious teachings and systems.Korean idioms are divided into two parts: those introduced from China and those created by Korea.This dissertation consists of three chapters.The second chapter enume rates,screens and simply investigates the animal idioms in China and Korea,and analyzes the background of the formation of animal idioms in Chinese and Korean languages from three aspects:material culture,social culture and psychological culture.The third chapter compares the Chinese and Korean animal idioms in terms of morphology,and divides them into four categories: homomorphic,homomorphic,heteromorphic and heteromorphic.The fourth chapter analyzes the images of animals in Chinese and Korean animal idioms,respectively investigating the symbolic meanings of animal images such as horse,tiger,fish,ox,dog,rat,chicken and dragon,and further analyzing the reasons for the similarities and differences,which mainly include cultural exchange,geography and cultural customs.At last,the paper is summarized.Through the analysis of China and South Korea animal idioms,study and compare the commonness and diff erence between China and South Korea animal idioms,can see the side between different countries and different political system between different ethnic groups living in different cultures of psychological characteristics,to deepen cultural exchanges have important significance to China and South Korea,and can realize from short quadword idiom heroes of truth and wisdom,to use in our daily life.At the same time,it is hoped that this paper will have a positive influence on the oral education and the teaching of Chinese idioms as a foreign language in Korean education.
