For decades, homophone problem is one of the important issues for Chinese phonetic and vocabulary. Many scholars study this issue, provided a lot of statistical information. But overall, the range of the statistical data is also not wide enough, especially the data which linking to the Chinese teaching for foreigners is not enough. As one of the rapid development teaching, teach foreign student Chinese will lead to more and more people's attention, including the words teaching, even down to the homonym teaching. In this paper, "Modern Chinese Dictionary" (5th edition) is the study object. The thesis makes a throughout analysis and investigation to the homonym in the modern Chinese vocabulary system. Combined with the statistical analysis about Graded Chinese Characters and Graded Vocabulary for HSK" (revised edition) and the textbook, to completely reflect the face of the homonym which in the Chinese teaching for foreigners and to help people clarify their importance in the vocabulary system.As the same time, the questionnaire in this paper investigated the different understanding to the homonym about the different groups of people. Based on the analysis data, give opinions to define and to deal with the homonym, helps people to recognize and understand the flexibility of the Chinese teaching for foreigners.
