Currently the amount and species of Chinese graded readers is small and the researchof Chinese graded readers is also not rich enough. There are lots of problemsunsolved. Selecting two sets of graded readers in a total of nine books of five hundredwords level, one is Chinese Breeze and the other one is Practical ChineseClassification Reading Books, this paper tries to compare the pros and cons of eachset of graded reader in six aspects. They are structure, cultures, vocabulary, practice,pictures and set type. There come the conclusions:1) the structures of the two set ofbooks are different but both of them are suitable.2) the cultural part of ChineseBreeze is not as good as the other one’s.3) the total vocabulary of Chinese Breeze isabout500words which is suitable for readers who learn Chinese less than half year.While the total vocabulary and vocabulary level of the other set of books are too hardfor readers.4) the practice part of Chinese Breeze is more desirable for readers whilethe compose type is not.5) the pictures of Chinese Breeze helps readers to understandcontent while some pictures of the other one are not suitable. This paper tries to makesome suggestion of editing Chinese graded readers through the details of analysis.
