Xu Wei and Zhu Da are the significant painters in the history of Chinese Art, both of whom are skillful in painting and calligraphy with the flower-and-bird painting the most outstanding, whereas few of materials can be found to make a contrast or comparison between them. This paper makes a parallelized comparison between the two from their art spirit and observes their cultural background and art styles. Their talents and value haven't been accepted till the death.Living in the transitional era between Ming and Qing Dynasties, Xu Wei and Zhu Da's achievements and essence have been affecting the later generations up till now. The author analyzes the similarities and differences between Xu Wei's and Zhu Da's art styles of the flower-and-bird paintings, hoping to further her own study on the flower-and-bird paintings in the future.
