The Lo-yang qielanji is a famous literature which mainly describes the Buddha temples. And it is also a vividly historical record of the social and life in Luoyang, where the capital of the late Bei Wei Dynasty located. This book has abundant connotation and it is in neat formation. It is listed as one of the " Three books in Bei Wei Dynasty", which also includes other two books Shuijignzhu and Yanshi jiaxun. This paper mainly discuss it from these aspects:its main idea, its literary ahievement and the source of its writing.The first chapter mostly probes and describes the life and idea of the author and the main point is on the author's understanding and attitude toward Buddism. He neither propose to annihilate the Buddhism nor woreship it. Instead, cherishing a feeling of great reverence and respect for the Buddhism and the real Buddhist, for the seak of the development of the country and the happy life of the common people, he suggests to renovate the Buddism and romove the abuse.With some historical and literary records, the second chapter describes the situation of the writing of this book from social and religionary aspects, so as to probe and comment on the essentail idea and its aim, including the following points: Dissatisfaction about the political corruption in the late Wei Dynasty; Argue against the governors'blind worship of Buddism; Expression of the sadness for the conquered country and ruined home.The third chapter firstly intensively analyzes the literary characteristics of the structure, narrative and language of this book. Qielanji has clear and complete formation, which can obviously noted in the whole book and the layout of each chapter. They are well in order and clear for understanding. The narrative is characterized with both historical biography and fiction. The autor is good at using some words of colors to describe the scenery, which well contribute to the consistency of its two styles, magnificence and fresh. Then this paper make some analysis about its borrwing of some reference and its absorption of the idea from the works of some forefathers. Form the content and writing style of this book, the author much more likely has consulted the topography of its time, the classical poetry and prose, and some Buddism works.The fourth chapter review this book from the whole situaton of the literature and culture in Bei Dynasty. This book istself and its recorded writers and their works show that in Bei Dynasty, the articles without rhyme are much more polular than those with rhyme. The embodied various literature works in this book also show the uniqueness and abundance of the literature in Bei dynasty. In the conflict of the Nan Bei Dynasty cultures, the records in this book show that the Bei Dynasty literators' mentatlity of nonconfidence in their culture. And in their comminication, the northerns learn more from the southerns.
