Research On Rural Settlement In Ancient Qinghai

Settlement geography is an important content of Human Geography, and an essential part of man-environment Relationship studies. Settlement is an integrated system of certain space and internal structure. It is not only a space system but also a complex social, economic and cultural phenomenon. In China, with the emergence of urbanization and fast development of cities, geography study and planning focus on cities, as a result, studies on rural settlement are relatively weak. Rural settlement is a place where rural residents live and work. The emergence and development of rural settlement are largely affected by environment, as well as social, economic and cultural conditions.The study focuses on the development of ancient rural settlement in Qinghai province from the perspective of geography, economics, sociology, history and cultural anthropology. It combines theory with historical materials, and use both quantitative and qualitative analysis on the basis. The systematic and comprehensive analysis on man-environment relationship embodied in ancient rural settlement in Qinghai is based on both literature review and social surveys. The study shows the building model, the human landscape of rural settlement, and the mutual relationship between rural settlement and environment. The study is based on agricultural and pastoral history in Qinghai and the main focus of it is the environmental history of Qinghai. I attempt to illustrate the interactive relationship among man-environment relationship, changes in the structure of agricultural and pastoral production, economic and cultural development, social development and residence settlement.Due to the unique climate and geographic environment, the social living space of rural settlement in ancient Qinghai is small and closed and Kinship and religion play an important role in the evolution of it. With the development of productivity and corresponding production relation, the pattern and space structure of settlement in rural Qinghai are changing all the time, embodied mainly in the improvement of residential environment, productivity and infrastructure. The evolution of rural settlement in Qinghai is largely affected by political, economic, societal, and religious conditions.
