On The Feminine In Fangfang's Novels

The research works conducted on Fangfang's novels today, mainly root in discussions of the various aspects of the value of portraying real life, the realism style, the deeper meaning behind tragedies involved in average lives, the appreciation of tragedy, the image characterization of the intellectuals, the cultural spirit hidden in her novels, and language character of her novels, and then expand beyond the above aspects. Generally speaking, they can be categorized by: script research, theme research, tragedy art skills research, and character image research, etc.Among numerous works by Fangfang, one of the most important categories is her novel category portraying fate of women. Currently, research on this category being singled out then expanded to further analysis is quite limited, and the analysis on female characters is even more rare and scattered, so far there has not been a precedent where all female characters in Fangfang's novels have been summarized then being analyzed as a whole in a series of research work. To change this, this paper will treat the female characters in her novels as a whole, and their group image will be the object of study, by interpreting her novels as a whole, female figures as a group is studied by category sequentially, difficulties in lives of today's women is investigated, with particular effort paid on finding the deeper social causes behind the tragic fate of those women, in order to unveil the essence of beauty these women images consist. Regarding the research method, this paper mainly uses social and historical criticism, in-depth reading of her novels, and interpretation criticism by applying women's rights.The women characters in all Fangfang's novels are categorized in three groups which are the intellectual women group, women of low urban society and women in villages. One element worth noting is that, Fangfang uses the main theme of"love and marriage"as the baseline to demonstrate and to portrait women of all there three categories, therefore this article further subcategorize each of the three groups into two subgroups:"women struggling outside the city wall", and"sufferers within the city wall". Despite that these women lives in different social levels and societies, they are all victims of hurt and insult in the male-dominant society.This paper focuses its analysis on the characteristics of the tragic fate of women. The characteristics of women tragically fate. Women's tragically lives portrayed by Fangfang all have their unique characteristics, unique causes and consequences. First of all, the social causes, at this level, I investigated mainly from two angles: the influence by the tradition structure of Chinese culture, and the direct damage from the male-dominance society to discover the historical tragic deterioration of women's social status. Secondly, also the most important cause, is women's own weakness, some chose to follow and accept whatever comes long in their lives, and to endure; some choose the most extreme ways to fight back. Whatever they choose, their chosen personalities fate will take them to the steep cliff of self-destruction. The third cause is the tragedy of fate, from the deep sense of fatalism throughout all of her novels, we can see that behind the tragic lives of all these women, there is an underline fate they can not repel against, the end result will nonetheless tragic and sad, even if they put up a weak fight, however, not having succumbed to the control of fate, and putting up a bravery fight, they show us a shining human spirit and humanity.This paper also attempts to discuss in depth the types of aesthetics and their realistic meaning of the female images. The women portrayed by the novelist are categorized in two classes:"the graceful", and"the strong and beautiful", the tragic conflict and tragic spirit have been discussed, and the aesthetic value of these women has been analyzed.The final part summarized the key points of the entire article.
