Stereotypes are a group of concept about the characteristics, properties and behaviors of specific groups. It exists in social interaction and cognitive activities. It can not only affect the individual judgments of the social groups, but also can be affected implicitly by unconscious cognition. So leading the implicit stereotype to a more objective direction will help us to eliminate prejudice and misunderstanding.Regional stereotype is a cognitive structure involved in those groups perceived knowledge, ideas and expectations of some region. Studying on the stability of implicit stereotypes can eliminate the generalization and bias concept in order to help to foster communication and harmony. There is certain cognitive bias concept of communication help to foster social harmony. In this study, participants are from northeast and foreigners. There are two kinds of measuring tools in the use of considering the existence, alteration and attribution.The study is divided into two parts: in the first part, using the Stereotype Explanatory Bias (SEB) test examines whether the regional implicit stereotype exists or not in foreigners and locals. And what kind of implicit stereotypes is about northeasten people. This study discusses the individual attitudes on internal and external groups from the perspective of attribution. In addition, use the migration time to be an inspection elements, and research on how the association effective stereotype.In the second part, referencing the reactions of the first part, using the Implicit Association Test (IAT) to research the influencing factors of changing regional stereotype. And study how the instant strategy can change stereotypes and what the change is.The conclusions indicate that:1. The SEB and the IAT tools are effective to assess the implicit regional stereotype. The results show that the implicit stereotype of the northeasten region exist.2. People come from different region both find preference inter-group effect. And the attribution of implicit stereotypes tends to external attribution.3. Individual stereotype about external groups more likely to be activated. 4. SEB tool measured implicit stereotypes can be changed after a long time. The stability of implicit stereotypes will weakened with the time integration into a new group, but this conclusion needs to be further confirmed.5. IAT measured implicit stereotypes of region can be changed. For a short term, the stability of implicit regional stereotype will be changed by strategy of anti-stereotype, social contest clues, and emotional experience. Strategy against stereotypes, homogeneous social background cues can effectively reduce stereotypes, positive emotional experience can also help reduce implicit stereotypes. However, as opposed to the stereotype of homogeneity start, different social background, negative emotional experience are not effective. That is, changes in implicit stereotypes were not significant. |
