Kunming Area Hmong Clothing Arts Development Research

This paper researches the art of Miao dress, thought of it in terms of art design, combined pictures and consulted documents,based on fieldwork.First,the paper analyzes the changes of Miao dress with the historical development, including the historical causes of change,molding, materials, craft and the changes of cultural connotation of Miao dress, summarizes the absorption and integration of advanced culture, analyzes not only the reason of the inheritance and development of Mizo dress, forms of expression under the strong cultural influence, but also the Miao nationality traditional culture manifestation after the cultural collision and integration. Second, the writer made an in-depth analysis of artistic characteristics of Miao dress in Kunming,summed up the most characteristic cape headwear and skirt with accordion pleats, analyzed the style, pattern, coloration and manufacture of Miao dress, discoursed the pattern art, coloration art and the traditional handicraft such as brocade, batik and embroider. Third, the writer discussed the cultural connotation and aesthetic value of Miao dress in Kunming and found the traditional culture, namely the carrier of historical trace, cultural symbol of collateral series and cultural custom of totemism. Then, analyzed the relationship between dress and manufacture, in other words, the influence of natural environment on the dress changed with economic condition and mode of production and life, then, discussed aesthetic value of the Miao dress art from the aspects of material, coloring and molding. Finally, analyzed the current situation of Mizo dress in Kunming on the condition that foreign culture and the development of tourist industry were influencing traditional culture of contemporary ethnic areas.In this paper,the writer discussed the changes of the dress based on the development of Miao dress in Kunming, explicated the modem dress art and its cultural connotation and aesthetic value, analyzed the current development of modern raiment, analyzed that the Mizo dress has both progress and regress under the influence of other national culture especially Han culture and Mizo dress absorbed outstanding chievements of other national culture and pushed forwards the innovation and redevelopment of Mizo dress.
