With the political and economical development of china, it has been greatly improved the international status and influence of china. What's more, a growing"Chinese fever"is sweeping over the world recently; an increasing number of people all around the world began to learn Chinese. However, Chinese is not easy to learn especially for the students from non-character-using countries. Chinese is difficult to learn, in large part, because Chinese character is difficult to learn. According to this situation, many scholars at home and abroad in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language have been taken a succession of jobs, but what they are done still leaves much to be desired. For example, there need be further studies by means of Chinese character study from the perspective of students. There is much less research especially for the Italian.In allusion to this instance, this paper investigated and analyzed the background and their Chinese characters learning attitude, textbooks of Chinese character learning, existing level and how to learn Chinese characters. Through statistic analysis, the results show the following problems in Italian students: first and foremost, a negative influence of mother tongue words; Second, the purpose of learning Chinese is not clear; Third, the poor existing level of writing Chinese characters; Forth, impropriate methods and strategies to learn Chinese character; last but not the least, inappropriate contents and curriculum arrangements in Chinese character course learning. According to the characteristics of Chinese characters and the research achievements of Chinese character teaching theory, the author started with the existing problems in learning Chinese characters of Italian students and aimed to put forward and provide some reference for the Chinese character teaching in Italy. Otherwise, this paper also proposed some suggestions for Italian students. Such as "increasing scientificity and interesting of teaching", "giving correct guidance to students to choose and use efficient learning strategy", "adjusting the rationality of teaching content", "using a variety of methods for teaching".
