Yan Fu, one of the most influential men who translated and introduced western logics to China, is the first man in the modern history of Chinese logical thoughts. He had contributed much in the field of recommendation and popularity of the western modern logical thoughts, and both induction and deduction in his theory contains more method meaning. Under that specific historical situation, he had made a great contribution to the development of our country's logics. Besides his adopted social evolutionism, what Yan Fu valued most was Western logics, and he once translated and introduced two Western logics works into Chinese, which are A System of Logic and Primer of Logic.Firstly, this paper reviews the history and current status of Yan Fu's logical thoughts briefly, and then illustrates the study subject and its researching method. In view of the cross-culture communication, this paper based on the academic fruits of the predecessors, according to his theory of linguistics and translating works, analyzes the social background and aim of the spread of his logical thoughts deeply. In further, we try to explore the inner and external reasons why Yan Fu chose A System of Logic and Primer of Logic as his translating objects, and discusses how Yan Fu crossed the culture-language barrier between the China and the Western, realized the integration of the traditional Chinese logical thoughts and the Western logics and imposed profound influence on his inheritors.During the process of writing, the author, after retracing the history of Western logical thoughts, hopes to understand and study the connotation of Yan Fu's sense of logics in a way of horizontal comparison, attempting to access Yan Fu objectively and indentify the historical status of his logical thoughts.
