With the advancement of globalization, interactions between different countrieshave been increasingly intensified. But because of the different culture, customs etc,some new problems also have been appeared, people from different countries duringthe cross-cultural communication are facing some obstacles. Chinese and Indians arealso not an exception. In this paper, Chinese-Indian Taboos functions as the researchobject of cross-cultural communication, through the research we found out thesimilarities and differences of Chinese-Indian Taboos also analyze the causes ofdifferences of Chinese-Indian Taboos and from the perspective of Taboos proposedsome suggestions to both the countries for a successful cross-cultural communication.This thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter introduces the Purposeand significance of topic, summarize the research status quo on cross-culturalcommunication and taboo customs, and put forward the research contents, researchmethods, theoretical basis etc. The second chapter, on the basis of previous research,elaborate the definition of taboo, Compare verbal and Non-verbal taboos of China andIndia used in cross-cultural communication. The Third chapter, on the basis of thecomparison of Chinese-Indian taboos, from the point of customs and habits, thoughtprocess, religious belief, explains the causes of differences of Chinese-Indian Taboos.The fourth chapter, by means of interview and questionnaire method, conducts thesurvey and analyzes Chinese-Indian common Taboos, and come up with somesuggestions for successful cross-cultural communication of both the countries.
