The glossary of Chinese teaching materials is the main basis of vocabulary learning for foreign learners. Thus, the quality of glossary's English comments decides the effect of their vocabulary learning.From the study of various Chinese teaching materials, the writer summarizes and analyzes some different methods of English comments and then the writer expatiates on her opinions and gives some advices on these methods. After that, this article concludes the problems of the English comments in these teaching materials, about which the writer puts forward some solutions to solve these problems. We should effectively use these good methods mentioned before and take a meticulous and comprehensive consideration on the semantic meaning, grammar characters and pragmatic usage of the word before adding English comments. Besides, in order to be concise and effective, the write advocates adding signs or pictures in the English comments and creating English comments web sites for each Chinese teaching material.
