Based on the practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, this essay reviews the research of verb reduplication in detail, and explores the relevant theories which influence the acquisition of verb reduplication at first. Applying the theories above as a theoretical foundation, this essay bases itself on the practice of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. We Select ninety-two foreign students from International College of Chinese studies of Fujian Normal University, and ask them to answer questionnaires in order to inspect the error condition of verb reduplication acquisition for foreign students. Besides that, we statistic error rate and make a chart to indicate it. Meanwhile, through searching in the Inter-media HSK Essay from Center for Language and Information Processing of Beijing Language and Culture University, we collect more error language data, and explore the error category by using a graph to indicate it. Secondly, combining with the above statistics and analysis, we describe and explore the error category of the questionnaires and HSK Essay, and make a chart which can see the error category and proportion of foreign students acquiring Chinese verb reduplication clearly. Furthermore, applying the Error analysis theory,Contrastive analysis theory,Inter-language theory, Cognitive theory and so on,we explore the causes of error. At last, combining the theoretical research, the acquisition condition of foreign students and the teaching practice, we put forward some teaching advice on verb reduplication for teaching Chinese as a foreign language, which mainly include arrangement of textbook, classroom teaching and layout of exercise, etc.
