Verb reduplication is an important grammatical phenomenon in modern Chinese, as welle as a difficult point for foreigners.Based on the previous research findings, the present thesis clarifies the reduplicated forms and ranges of verbs by combining researches of Chinese existential with second language acquisition theories, thus makes a word list of reduplicated verbs to serve Chinese teaching as a second language. According to the list, the author has a sound inspection into those reduplicated verbs in Chinese inter-language corpus and makes a comparison with native Chinese speakers, the result of which implies that foreigners use reduplicated verbs more frequently than native Chinese speakers.The present thesis investigates the periodical characteristics of foreigners'usage of reduplicated verbs through those correct cases, while the error types are summarized by the analysis of errors, the corresponding explanations of which are clearly listed. Then, the author applies Proficiency of Intervals to foreigners'usage of verb reduplications to get the internal acquiring order.In the end, this thesis makes a research into the existential teaching programs of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and verb reduplications in teaching materials, at the same time a study of acquisition researches of foreigners' usage of verb reduplication is made to give some suggestions about the establishment of teaching programs, the writing of teaching materials as well as the whole teaching process.
