This thesis is a investigation of fine brushwork landscape differences between the Yuan Dynasty and the Ming Dynasty. That is by analyzing the spirit of drawing freehand. "Fine brushwork landscape" is a new concept which was witness in the 1990s of the 20th century. It is a way of distinguish classification of traditional painting. This thesis use this concept to re-definition and analysis with the traditional painting, in order to get reference and inspiration for modern fine brushwork landscape. Trying to compare with the two kinds of paintings between the two dynasties of Yuan and Ming, we explore the spirit of the major factors of lead style difference of the painting. Orientation of different painting spirit is an important core and key of the main factors. The Yuan Dynasty painting was deeply influenced by Zhao Mengfu who was lived in early Yuan Dynasty. Number of artists represented by Zhao mengfu suggested that ancient style was very important for painting. In pursuit of the Tang dynasty painting to set up a painting of fresh air by advocating restoration. But the painter of the Ming dynasty general called for drawing with the literati spirit which showing gentle style of painting. Due to the influence of the scholar painting and development of commodity economy in the late Ming Dynasty, and the Ming dynasty freehand brushwork of professional artist pursuit of painting spirit. The spirit of the freehand painting are pursuing spiritual realm, and the freehand Brushwork and Freehand Brushwork spirit is a great difference. Impressionistic Painting is to express emotions, for the purpose of the spirit of the thought of Painting, and Freehand drawing is relative to the meticulous painting by two art forms which is from the technical level of distinction. With the decline of Ming Dynasty, hundreds of years after the loss to the spirit of the freehand landscape appeared none members of the former exist side by side. Traditional green landscape was witness in Wei and Jin dynasties, raised in Tang and Song dynasties, declined in Ming and Qing dynasties. The Brushwork of landscape development direction of Yuan Jiang and Yuan Yao of Qing Dynasty was to draw individual style and characteristics. Decline of green landscape is on the basis of inheriting the predecessors of the techniques for main cause, lack of fine brushwork light of the spirit of painting, the end of the Ming led by Dong qichang's theory of literati's accused the different style between the north and the south, so the green landscape painting was more decline.Modern fine brushwork painter is mainly for young painter as the mainstay. Due to the most of new chinese art education is under the influence of Western painting, we lost the most part of inheritance of traditional painting. And the majority of the current fine brushwork painting are set a high value on painting skills. Modern fine brushwork painting occupy a large proportion in Important exhibition of our country, Attaching importance to skill and methods at the same time is a way out of modern fine brushwork painting.
