Cheng Zhi Singing Art

Bel canto was introduced to China since the early twentieth century. After the development of nearly a century, there have been many Chinese singers, who are famous at home and abroad under its influence. Cheng Zhi, a contemporary well-known tenor singer, is an example in China. He established his own complete art concept and aesthetic system, which is not only majestic atmosphere, but also simple and minimalist. He mastered the bel canto of the Italian tradition skillfully, and handle the volume and tone of different sound zones with ease, not only can sing the Western opera arias of good amplitude and fortissimo, but also the art songs and ethnic minorities songs with the scientific sound method. His singings are marveled in the world because of the style of fresh, original and creative. This paper tries to explore the successful experience of Cheng Zhi through analyzing his art road, singing style and skills, social activities and contributions to the teaching.This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter one is study on the singing art road of Cheng Zhi. This chapter is divided into"becoming attached to the vocal in camps","interrupted but continued in the twists and turns","creating refulgence in the struggle","good comprehensive Literacy"and several other parts."Becoming attached to the vocal in camps"describes that Cheng Zhi had an indissoluble bond with vocal, and his teacher encourage him."Interrupted but continued in the twists and turns"focuses on his hardships and life experiences in the pursuit of the art of singing."Creating refulgence in the struggle"introduced his persistent pursuit and brilliant achievements. "Good comprehensive Literacy"introduced his accomplishments in the interior design, sports and other aspects, and the impact on his singing.Chapter two is study on Cheng Zhi's singing skills. It has a technical analysis of Cheng Zhi Singing secret through the study of breath, resonance and articulation.Chapter three is study on Cheng Zhi's singing style. This chapter is the focus of the paper. It will include Cheng Zhi's singing style into four aspects, namely:"singing on the Chinese and Western","excellent voice expression","accurate grasp of the work style","hot passion". It summed up the influence of singing skills, cultural literacy and artistic vision on the singing style through the analysis of these aspects.Chapter four is study on Cheng Zhi's singing art concept. This chapter is divided into"Cheng Zhi's scientific orientation on the development of Chinese vocal","the relationship between singing and physical and mental health","Cheng Zhi's live attitude","Cheng Zhi's vocal attitude"and several other parts. It mainly introduced his insights on vocal theory and the objective criteria on the development of vocal in China.Chapter five summarizes Cheng Zhi's contributions on the art communion between home and abroad and vocal teaching.
