In teaching Chinese as a foreign language, a great number of Korean students, is a group that is not allow to neglect. South Korea is a country that belongs to the cultural circle of Chinese characters. But The Korean government lacks consistency in its educational policies. As a result, the new generation of South Korea does not understand Chinese characters completely. The first chapter of this thesis through Chinese characters in Korean culture and language, the history of Chinese character word and the present situation not only estimates the South Korean ability to recognize the Chinese character, but also analyzes some characteristics and difficulties that the South Korean have in learning Chinese characters. In second chapter we will consider how to determine the principles and methods to teach Chinese characters according to word recognition ability of adults. Finally, in third chapter describes certain principles and ways to teach Chinese characters in order to establish an independent Chinese characters course for Korean adults. In addition, there are several proposals to use character component in teaching Chinese characters.
