This essay is divided into four parts and analyzes and discusses the theory of connotation of QINFU, aesthetic foundation of music without sadness and happiness, practical foundation and historical values. Basing on relevant historical materials, it discusses the aesthetics core of guqin in QINFU: sound does not express any sadness or happiness while it expresses the natural property of consonance of sound.Section 1 discusses theory of connotation of QINFU and Confucian and Taoist aesthetic thought of Ji Kang respectively. During the process of his social life and artistic practice, Ji Kang kept pursuing peaceful beauty and aesthetic awareness of loving nature. His life motto was letting nature take its course. He thought that the principle needn't arguing and the immortal was not reliable. Believe RuanJi's point that in the Biography of Mr. Big Man, it is said that the immortal did not make any sense and it could be ignored. As for music appreciation, he asserted natural harmony and peaceful heartfelt wishes. The reason why Ji Kang's aesthetic thought was outstanding in Chinese ancient aesthetic ideology history lies on his aesthetic ideology which combined both Confucian knowability and Taoist agnosticism. It both affirmed traditional Confucian thoughts and negated Confucian feudal ethics and rites advocated by rulers. This kind of aesthetic thoughts provides cherished experience for the later generations to study Chinese ancient aesthetic ideology history ,Section 2: emphasizes the aesthetic basis of QINFU, no sadness and happiness.. The main point of the aesthetic theme is to reflect the beauty of harmony. The creating process of Ji Kang is that discussing music should concentrate on harmony to present the natural harmony of music without using sad ingredients. Thanks to the Tao ideology,it provided an access for him to metaphysics which advocates cultivating one's soul to reach a state of peace. Through his description of prospect, he expressed his hope to get rid of chaos and pursue Tao spirit. In addition, he also inherit the idea of keeping fit from Lao-tzu, practicing to complete YANGSHENGLUN, which later became the first systematic book focusing on keeping fit.Section 3: state the practical basis of aesthetic theory without sadness and happiness for QINFU. It is divided into three aspects including Ji Kang's instrument playing, his creating practice and educational practice.The conclusion of this article is to summarize the historical value of QINFU, which would also bring us great revelation.
