This is the door from the movie "seventh art" Since the birth of literary works has been an important source of the film, by the literary works adapted for film material, film reached the unprecedented prosperity, the vast majority of outstanding films adapted from literary works. In the film adaptation of the Chinese, Zhang Yimou is one of the more successful. As the leader of the film, his film adaptation of its unique features, in the 17 films he directed, 12 adapted from the novel, we can say, without the novel not Zhang Yimou. We study the art of Zhang Yimou's film adaptation, not only to better grasp the Zhang Yimou's film aesthetics, but also on the film adaptation of the arts to explore a level deeper. This paper, the works of Zhang Yimou's films are classified by the timing and style, the text and the adaptation of the novel after the films were compared, the adjustment from the subject, changes in the way narrative, characters and plot rewritten, folk music and picture to add features and film and many other aspects of the original novel and film adaptation of the characteristics of each. Through comparative analysis found that the works of Zhang Yimou's earlier "Red Sorghum," "Raise the Red Lantern" and "Ju Dou" and other works focus on the adaptation of folk and other forms of color and beauty, and to simplify the subject and content; In the middle of the Creation "The Story of Qiu Ju," "Not One Less" and "Keep Cool" and other works that focus on the form of Zhang Yimou turned on by the narrative and thematic concerns; into the new century, Zhang Yimou's film adaptation arts tend to aesthetic and poetic, so with "My Father and Mother" and "Under the Hawthorn Thee" and other films like lyrical prose. By analyzing these works in the adaptation of the aesthetic process of transformation, we can more clearly understand the film adaptation of Zhang Yimou aesthetic orientation and aesthetic contemplation, further research Zhang Yimou's film adaptation of art.
