In this research, the writer intends to investigate the relationships among characteristics of social comparison, self-evaluation, and psychological well-being, and investigate in what way the characteristics of social comparison and self-evaluation influence the psychological well-being. The researcher investigated 771 university students by questionnaires through Ryff's rating scale of psychological sense of happiness, Questionnaire of university students'social comparative characteristics and Questionnaire of self–evaluation.Following is the conclusion:1. The overall psychological well-being has no significant differences between genders. But in"positive relationship with others","purpose in life"and"personal growth", female students have higher scores than male students; and male students have higher scores than female students in"autonomy". Grades have a significant influence on the on psychological well-being. Students in Grade 1 have higher scores than students in Grade 3. Students in Grade 1 and 2 can feel more"environmental mastery". Students in Grade 4 have the highest scores in autonomy. In general happiness, positive relationship with others, purpose in life and personal growth, students who major in literature and arts have higher scores than students who major in science. And urban students have higher scores than rural students in autonomy. There is a significant difference between underprivileged students and non-underprivileged students in autonomy. So the latter have higher scores than the former. A striking discrepancy happens in the purse in life between class leaders and non- class leaders, moreover, there is a significant difference in situation control, personal growth and positive relationships with others.2. Male students have higher scores than female students in"control traits". Students'scores on"reference"get lower by grade. In the aspect of reference, students who major in literature and arts have higher scores than those major in science. Rural students get higher scores than urban students in prominence. And in the field of reference, underprivileged students have higher scores than non-underprivileged students and class leaders get higher scores than non- class leaders.3. The difference between male and female students in self-evaluation scores is significant. Male students have lower self-evaluation scores than female students. Students in Grade 4 have lower self-evaluation scores than students in Grade 1,2,3. Underprivileged students have lower self-evaluation scores than non-Underprivileged students. The only-child and non-class leaders get lower scores than the non-only-child and class leaders.4. The correlations between the characteristic of social comparison and psychological well-being are significant.5. The correlations between the characteristic of social comparison and self-evaluation are significant.6. The correlations between self-evaluation and psychological well-being are significant.7. The university students characteristics of social comparison and self-evaluation can predict their psychological well-being. The characteristics of social comparison can influence the psychological well-being by self-evaluation, it can also influence psychological well-being by itself. The model confirmed the prediction.
