The history of the Internet Songs in China has been15years, since the first Internet Song named’The North-eatern are good person’ become quite popular through the Internet in2001. And as a form of sub-culture, the Internet Songs has developed and should be payed much more attention to. What’s more, it has been a threat to the mainstream culture, especially the pop music and the traditional culture.The Internet Songs always take advantage of symbolism to achieve the purpose of resistence. The symbolisms of the Internet Songs are attached to music and lyrics, containing four-letter word, sexuality and other negtive words which are rejected by members of the dominant culture. Meanwhile, the construction of resistence by the Internet Songs often rely on improvisation, homologies and any other ways which can make up a completely opposite meaning of the texts from the system of mainstream discourse.This essay is based on theory and essays, summarizing all the Internet Songs spread on the Internet in the past15years. Moreover, it chooses a song called Gangnam Style as a representive case for further study, especially in the study of the sub-cultural characteristic and significance such as awakens the civic awareness of the Internet Songs. And also the limitations and concerns, such as the possibility of adopted by the mainstreem culture in both ideological and commercial ways.Furthermore, this essay attaches importance to the relationship between the Internet Songs and the mass media, and social equality problems reflected by the membership in the sub-culture groups, which has been ignored by most research did before.
