Xiangxi South Road, Positive Play

Xiangxi Yang opera is a kind of Xiangxi local opera originated from folk songs and dances which starts its popularity in Xiangxi area from the late Qing dynasty and has a history of 200 years till now, and is a representative type of Xiangxi folk opera art. Different in singing style and spreading area, Yang opera is divided into two parts as southern part and northern part, which enjoys simple and distinct style. Popular in Southern part of Xiangxi, Nanlu Yang oprera has got mellow voice with most of its operas tells about the Xiangxi traditional tale, advocates the simple folk ethics and enjoys its popularity among local people. It is reported that Xiangxi Yang opera is recognized as the first batch of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in Hunan Province in 2007. This thesis takes Nanlu Yang opera as its subject, shows its origins, forming and historical development. Among this, this thesis centers on the vertical historical development and present situation after the social circumstance change. Through the analysis of Nanlu Yang opera, the author makes a hypothesis about the future development trend on it.Apart from the introduction and conclusion, this thesis concludes four parts. The general structure of this thesis is listed as follows:Chapter 1:General introduction of nature circumstance. This chapter acts as the brief introduction of nature circumstance and human circumstance on Xiangxi Yang opera, which includes nature geographical environment, folk circumstance and economic and culture circumstance.Chapter 2:Brief introduction of traditional Nanlu Yang opera. This chapter presents the origins, history, name origin and the forming process of Yang opera. Meanwhile, it also shows the important performing organizations in the developing history of Nanlu Yang opera.Chapter 3:Modern Nanlu Yang opera. Due to the dramatic changes in political system and social circumstances, Nanlu Yang opera innovated and developed since the founding of new China. This chapter acts as the key part in this thesis. According to vertical time sequence, this chapter is divided into three parts:the initial stage of new China, culture revolution stage and stage after reform. Among which, the key part lies in the influence on Nanlu Yangxi present situation due to Xiangxi economic barycenter change after reform.Chapter four:Analyze the Nanlu Yang opera. This chapter will analyze the characteristics according to different periods of Nanlu Yang opera,which is divided into two main parts.The first part is about characteristic of traditional Nanlu Yang opera,which inluding the features of tune, melody,melody,and accompaniment in traditional Yang opera.The second part is about characteristic of modern Nanlu Yang opera,which inluding the features of singing in a new style and transplanting the model operas.
