C. S. Lewis's masterpiece The Chronicles of Narnia is not only listed among the worldwide classic fantasy literature and children's literature, but also is considered as a profound Christian literature. The starting point of this thesis lays in probing how the different factors in Narnia are integrated to construct such a rich and deep work. To be specific, this thesis is aimed to probe how "agape" is conveyed through the fantasy world of The Chronicles of Narnia and the reason for the combination of the two factors. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter analyzes the "skeleton" of Narnia—the fantasy elements in it, including r the setting between the primary and secondary world, the medieval pagan mythology and society background, the characters of good and evil, and the use of magic. The second chapter studies the ''flesh" of Namia—its biblical fantasy source, i.e. its imitation of the biblical fantasy narrative of creation, fall, salvation and the final judgment. The third chapter probes the "soul" of Narnia—agape, which is reflected in each plot, from creation to salvation, and is mainly embodied in the image of Aslan. The fourth chapter probes the reason why agape is conveyed through the fantasy form in Narna and to study the significance of Narnia series.
