The unequal status of women compared with men and the discrimination against women is a world-wide phenomenon, whose origin could be traced back to the beginning of human history. However, people realized this phenomenon is unfair and unjust, and then started thinking about how to eliminate it just a few centuries ago, what's more, a collective cooperation among the nations on this field only lasted no more than 70 years, in which the United Nations has played a vital and leading role. This paper pays close attention to the present situation of women's human right protection and the measures the United Nations has taken, and is written as follows: The first part is the basic theory of women's human right protection, with the connotation and extension of the concept"Women's Human Rights"being firstly clarified , the history of women's struggle towards freedom and equality following , and the existing problems having been raised at last. The next part focuses on the efforts the United Nations has made on this field ever since its inception, including purposes of the women's human rights protection, the related international conventions and institutions, est.. The last part is about the challenges the United Nations are facing, the revolutionary steps it has taken to a gender harmonious world, and the outlook of the United Nation's future on protection of women's human rights .
