The Study Of The National Image Building With The Background Of China's Rise

The national image is a nation's most important intangible asset, and how to build it has direct impact on national interests and national foreign policy. In the era of globalization, the strategic position of the national image has attracted more and more attention around the world. With the new historical background of China's rise, we must do a full range of research on the national image, in order to completely play its important role in the great power growth. From the perspective of constructivist theory, and also combined with studies in communication science, this paper gives you a comprehensive analysis of national image. The author starts with the content and composition, combines its own and other typical nations' history, and finally finds out the causes of "China's Threat Image", and opens up a new path to build China's national image in the end.In China, the research on national image is an emerging topic. At present, most studies on the national image are from the perspective of communication science. But the analysis of building national image from the perspective of international relations is a new field. Therefore, this topic has great significance both theoretically and practically.Based on the selected topic, combined with existing research conditions, the author takes international political sociology as the main theoretical basis, complemented by realism. Meanwhile, studies on sociology, culture, communication science and other subjects are referred to in the paper. On approaches of researching, the author combines theoretical analysis with empirical analysis closely. The aim of all these analyses lies in enhancing the topic's practicality and feasibility.In addition to introduction and conclusion, this essay consists of four main parts, as follows:In the first part, the author defines the content of the national image, and summarizes the role and impact factors, so as to provide a theoretical basis for the following to find the means and ways to build the national image. In the second part, with the analysis of China's image development history, the author points out that the rise of China requires rebuilding the national image. Besides, "China's threat image" is deconstructed, and the image of China in the new era is repositioned. In the third part, the author has chosen different historical periods of British, U.S., and Germany as typical cases. By analyzing their successful stories of image-building in the process of emergence (or resurgence), combined with the current background, the author provides constructive experience for the following exploration of the means to build the national image. The fourth part puts focus on the research of measures, and is the focal point of the whole essay. According to the differences of the audience to understand the national image, the author resolves how to build the national image with the background of China's rise, respectively from the global, regional, national levels. At different levels, we have different interests' demands, and also we need to play different roles, which requires different emphases in the specific image-building methods. A targeted strategy will reduce detours in the implementation process, and ultimately help us to gain better returns.
