Research On The Demands Of Community Supporting For The Urban Empty-nest Elderly And Its Countermeasure

Along with the development of economy society and the quickening of the urbanization, as well as the acceleration of population aging, the family structure in the city has changed greatly and many elderly people separate from their adult children, for these reasons, quite number of empty-nest elderly people has appeared, and their supporting problem has become a serious reality, which can not be ignored and needs to be solved urgently. As the empty-nest elderly, their family can not give them enough support and the lack of social supporting, so it is necessary to establish a specific community supporting model for the empty-nest elderly in city, and the model should be based on the community agency. What is the character of the urban empty-nest elderly, and what kinds of supporting services do they need? How about the community supporting for the elderly, and what problems does it have? All these issue have significant theoretical and practical meaning to the explore and development of the suitable community supporting model for the aged in our country.The paper applied quantitative analysis and descriptive analysis. First, the author divided the demands of community supporting for the urban empty-nest elderly into four dimensions, they were economic demand, medical demand, life care demand, and mental support demand. Then, the author used statistics software——SPSS 17.0 to make a descriptive analysis of these four demands, and completely realized the supporting reality of the urban empty-nest elderly and what kinds of supporting they want. During the quantities analysis, the writer adopted nine cases, to make the analysis more specific. Besides, in order to find more problems, the author took questionnaire survey as the mainly data collection method and case interviews as the supplement.The paper also applied mean hypothesis testing on the four demands, and got a conclusion, that is among the four demands, medical demand is first, economic demand is second, life care demand is third, mental is last.Moreover, the paper also applied Correlation Analysis of demand satisfaction and its influence size, and made theoretical or practical explanation. The research results showed that the following factors could cause obvious influence to the demands:(1)family-income, career, education degree, health degree, self-care ability could influence the income of the elderly (2)gender, job, living style, healthy degree, self-care ability, family pure income, number of children, services from community, life-care services, medical services could influence the medical demand;(3)marriage status, living style, the income of the last year, family pure income, life-care ability, number of children, services from community could influence the satisfied degree of the demand,(4)age, marriage status, educational degree, living style, income of the last year, self-care ability, the frequency to join the community activities could influence mental demand.At the end, the paper puts forward some suggestions toward the reality and problems of community supporting for the urban empty-nest elderly. The author advocates establishing a model of community supporting for urban empty-nest elderly. The model should be dominated by the government, and also concludes other social forms. It can not only make the elderly live in a familiar environment but also reduce the burdens of the country. This will pay an important role to strengthen the stability of society and the social cohesion.
