The intellectual outlook of Mao Zedong is one of the special and complicated issues in the phase of New Democratic Revolution and establishment of socialism of China. The significance of study on this issue is that the historical experiences and lessons can be better summarized by grasping the development of the intellectual thoughts of Mao Zedong actually to further complete the intellectual policy of Communist Party of China and activate the intellectual to the full extent. Mao's intellectual thoughts are basically correct in the whole phase of democratic revolution and the early period of socialism construction. He claims that intellectual should have their revolution tendency, and take in plenty of them into revolutionary group. He also emphasizes t that revolution would not win its final victory without the participation of intellectual. Since the establishment of People's Republic of China , his thoughts has experienced tortuous transformations and were basically correct before 1957. He has ever admitted that intellectuals have become part of the worker class after improvement and they are laborers of socialism . But his thoughts about intellectuals becomes wrong in his later years and the main reason is that he judges the social nature of intellectuals wrongly and confuses the personal identification of intellectual with the family background of them. The theory of skin and fur about intellectual of Mao Zedong , the tendency of despising knowledge and intellectual and the influence of international communist movement have strengthened his tendency of his bias on intellectuals.At the early period of reform and opening up, the Communist Party of China has take in effectively the experiences and lessons of the policy and theory of Mao Zedong on intellectuals, made objective and scientific judge on the nature of intellectuals, emphasized that science and technology is the first productivity, and made a series of policy on intellectual in accordance with situation in China. After the fifteenth national congress, he proposed the strategy of strengthening the nation by relying on education and talents and improved the social status and salary of intellectuals. Hence, their enthusiasm was stimulated and they work harder for socialist modernization.
