The Research On The Motivation Of Private Entrepreneur's Philanthropic Behavior

With China's rapid economic development, China's philanthropy has witnessed consecutivedevelopment. There are many deficiencies in the aspects of charitable operating mechanism andculture in spite of great progress. A case in point is the argument among researchers and mass mediaon the motivation behind private entrepreneur's philanthropic behavior. Discussing this theme notonly brings us theoretical knowledge, but also provides us practical benefits, since it can rationallyguide people's philanthropic behavior. This study tries to develop constructive interpretation of themotivation by using qualitative research methods, gathering empirical materials through deepinterviews and analysing the interviews through exploring what motives the behavior, why the privateentrepreneur don't participate philanthropic activities, and what their viewpoints on the hot spot ofcurrent charitable development is.Analysing the interviews,we can get the conclusion that there is various motivation behind thephilanthropic act of private entrepreneurs. Nurturing staff's loyalty, getting good reputation, acquiringthe support of government and getting acquainted with business partners are important motives. Inaddition, sense of knight and personal life experience also plays roles in driving private entrepreneursto get involved in philanthropy.According to the interviewees, the problems of philanthropic development are the intolerance ofphilanthropic act, the monotonous ways of philanthropic behavior, the simple evaluation system ofcharity behavior and the lack of sense of philanthropy among the public.
