The Chinese painting is rooted in the Chinese traditional culture, and it has been formed a special art system with the national culture, artic idea, aesthetic thinking, and philosophia concept of Chinese. The Chinese painting has its own special principle and modeling, thinking style, and national feature. In the Chinese painting teaching in the middle school, the method or technique has been totally emphasized and the fine arts appreciation has usually ignored. This study is tended to analyse the malpractice of the technique-oriented teaching of Chinese painting in the middle school by the unique characteristic of Chinese painting which implies more much meaning than itself and expresses its philosophy by its form. The technique of "Bimo" can't embody the entire meaning of the Chinese painting. In addition, the technique-oriented teaching of the Chinese painting is not only extramely harmful to developing of the Chinese painting but also to the interets of students in the studying Chinese painting. Meanwhile, this research also analysed the advantages in the appreciation-oriented teaching in the Chinese painting which will be beneficial to the development of Chinese traditional culture, grasping all the meaning of the Chinese painting, and promoting students'understanding of the technique of "Bimo".For the reasons above, the teaching of the Chinese painting in middle school should not pay more attention to the technique-oriented teaching, but to the appreciation-oriented teaching. Moreover, the teaching of Chinese painting should emphasize the appreciation-oriented teaching while it should not ignore the technique-oriented teaching, which is the ideal model in the teaching of the fine arts in the middle school in China. The teaching of the Chinese painting should be conducted in the great context of the Chinese culture by two ways in which the teacher guides the students to grasp the great view of the Chinese culture by learning the Chinese painting and in turn, leads the students to understand the special characteristics of the Chinese painting in the whole Chinese culture in order to embody the significance of the Chinese painting. Finally, in this thesis, some strategies have been made concerning to how to conduct the appreciation-oriented teaching of the Chinese painting and how to avoid some mistakes in the appreciation-oriented teaching of the Chinese painting.
