U.S. New Character Education And Its Revelation Of University Moral Education

Since the 1980s, in order to the society of moral crisis, the schools in the United States has began to rise the "new character education movement". On the basis of traditional character education, American new character education absorbed many advantages of other moral education theories. By forming the unique moral theory and practice mode, it provides beneficial inspirations for the reform of school moral education in the worldwide. Around the core values for juvenile, character education is the social development of the essential. Although the United States and China in the different cultural history background, different social system, different values of moral education, and teenager practices in specific demands also distinctive, but new American character education laid emphasis on worthy experience of conjunction by schools, parents and community of moral education, working with character of value and practicing the school moral education evaluation system, which benefit for construction of moral education in universities in China. Based on the present situation of the moral education in colleges and universities in China, in view of the present college students moral problem in the work, the understanding of American new character education can help us to explore new theory in our college moral education.This article contains three parts. The first chapter mainly introduces the general situation of American new character education:education background, main contents, characteristics and some main practice activities of the new American character education.The third and the fourth chapter is the body in this paper, the third chapter discusses theoretical and practical significance of the new character education, and introduces the new American character education as a new moral education mode has some limitations. In the last part, the paper gives a consideration of the moral education in the university in China, expounds the revelation that the new American character education gives.
