The key issue of contemporary education is to develop students'learning ability. Since reading ability is the basis of learning ability, developing students'learning ability should start with the reading ability. However, when referring to reading, most people would think of the reading in the subject of Chinese and some foreign languages. Few would relate reading to biology or other subjects. But with the changes in biology education, the tendency of the college entrance examination has changed from testing students'knowledge to examining their ability of information acquiring and processing. Thus, teachers should pay attention to the development of students'reading ability in biology class of secondary school.First, essence of reading and characteristics of biological reading are introduced in this article. On the basis of analyzing current situation of biological reading in secondary school, we demonstrate the necessity of developing students'reading ability in biology class. Besides, with the combination of cognitive development theory, constructivism theory and the specialty of biology education content, we discuss the way to implement the strategy of biological reading education. Doing the statistic analysis of examination paper in both pretesting and posttesting, we provide specific cases in biological reading and briefly summarize some problem that should be paid attention to in reading activity.The purpose of this article mainly indicates:firstly, analyze the value of biological reading education; secondly, provide some advice about carrying out the idea of biological reading education. I hope there will be some experience for general education workers1. The teachers should change the opinion, and realize the meaning of improving the reading ability of biological.2. The teachers should inspire the student's reading thinking and start from stimulating the student's self-efficacy. The interest is the best teacher. The students can read biological materials by themselves once they are interested in biological reading.3. The teachers should instruct properly and provide the students reading skills binding with the characteristics of biology.4. The teachers should arrange the reading according to the psychological feature, cognitive rule and reading habbits of the high school students in different age.
