The current development of human society into the Information Age,the need for everyone to establish the concept of life-long learning.It is very important to carry out lifelong learning and improve one’s reading ability.The characteristics of high school biology textbooks and the new college entrance examination evaluation system also put forward higher requirements for students’ reading ability.The new curriculum reform emphasizes that the class should be dominated by students’ "learning",and the cultivation of efficient reading ability is an important guarantee to improve students’ core quality and realize the student-led class.The research takes the cultivation of students’ efficient reading ability as the basic point,and the existing teaching theories as the support.According to the characteristics of biology discipline,the research deeply explores the cultivation strategies of reading ability in biology discipline.Study aims to break the customary in biological teaching practice light reading "heavy" teaching ideas,provide reading teaching strategies and suggestions for front-line biology teachers,make students form good reading habits,develop efficient reading ability,make better education theory is applied to teaching practice,students in a lifelong benefit at the same time,can quickly to improve students’ academic performance.The study was conducted on 120 science students in a parallel class of senior 2 at Karamay,divided into a control group and an experimental group.Before the experiment,120 science students were investigated to find out the current situation and problems of biological reading.Then,based on the reading teaching theory,referring to the effective methods of others and combining with their own teaching experience,the reading materials required for senior high school students are divided into text class,chart class,experiment class and science history class,so as to provide the corresponding reading teaching strategies,design reading teaching cases,the experimental group of 60 students for four months of reading teaching practice,the control group using conventional teaching methods.After the practice of reading teaching,the students in the experimental group were again given a questionnaire about the current situation of biological reading,and the experimental group and the control group were given a pre-test and a post-test by using the monthly and final examination papers.The results of pre-test showed that there was no significant difference between the two groups before the beginning of Reading Teaching(P > 0.05),after the teaching of biological reading,the biological score of the experimental group was significantly better than that of the Control Group(p<0.05),the statistical results show that the implementation of biological reading teaching strategy in the teaching process has a good effect on the improvement of students’ overall biological results.The implementation of biology reading teaching strategies has effectively stimulated students’ interest in biology reading,enhanced their awareness of biology reading,gradually formed their reading habits,and improved their reading ability.The results show that it is feasible and effective to introduce reading teaching strategies into biology class of Grade 2 to cultivate students’ reading ability.Firstly,effective reading strategies are adopted for different reading contents,such as text information,focus reading guided by questions,and knowledge frame diagram is constructed by using all the focus points to form the overall concept.Graph information,first guide the students to master the general order of reading charts,and then the extracted information in the form of transformation to organize;History of science information,guide students to use tables or flow charts to compare and organize key points in scientific events,better understand the general rules of scientific discovery;Experiment information,using the elements in the report sheet to guide students to read,faster access to the key points of the experiment.In the implementation of all the reading strategies,constantly guide the students to outline and annotate the key words and sentences,to develop a good reading habit.The organization form of group reading is adopted to give students more opportunities to show and communicate,improve students’ sense of participation and achievement in reading,gradually form their interest in reading,improve their reading ability,and finally improve students’ interest and initiative in learning.
