The differences between poor students and excellent students are viewed as important things and key problems in education.Attention is one of the five basic elements of intelligence and of great significance for the organization and maintenance of intellectual activities. The quality of attention reflects the level of attention development. So,the research on the differences of the quality of attention between poor students and excellent students has become hot.A few foreigners have spent their energy researching the differences of the quality of attention between poor students and excellent students in the electronic game environment. But there was few researches like that in our country.Based on the existing researches on the differences of the quality of attention between poor students and excellent students and the researches on the relationship between the electronic games and the quality of attention of the players, this research adopted the method of samples comparison test and focused on the differences in the quality of attention between poor high school students and excellent high school students before and after training in the electronic game environment. The "the Test of Attention for Primary and Secondary Students" which is created by East China Normal University Professor Guopeng Chen and modified by me and the self-selected electronic game were used in this trial. We took high school students in Grade one as subjects and selected the subjects from four different classes in the No.l middle school in Nanjing. There are 80 effective samples including 40 poor students and 40 excellent students.SPSS 17.0 for windows was adopted in the data analysis. The results indicate that there are significant differences in the quality of attention between poor students and excellent students before playing the specified game and excellent students are superior to the poor students. However, there are no significant differences in the quality of attention between the two kinds of students after playing the specified game. The results also tell us that there are significant differences in the span and concentration of attention between poor students and excellent students before playing the specified game. After playing the specified game, there are no significant differences in the span of attention between poor students and excellent students but there still are significant differences in the concentration of attention and the poor students' concentration of attention have been improved much more than the excellent students. The results show that there are no significant differences in the allocation, shift and stability of attention between poor students and excellent students whether playing the specified game or not.The results also show that some electronic games training can improve the poor students and excellent students' quality of attention. The game which was adopted by my experiment can improve the subjects'quality of attention especially the span, allocation, and concentration of attention. And it helps the poor students much more than the excellent students, specially in the span and concentration of attention. To sum up,this dissertation gives us some advice.Firstly,it is necessary for teachers and students to establish a correct conception on differences on the quality of attention, and do targeted teaching according to the differences to improve the students'quality of attention and academic.Secondly, some electronic games can be regarded as an effective tool for improving students'quality of attention. We can select or design similar games according to the differences especially for the poor students to improve their quality of attention.
