Knowledge economy has brought great change and development to the different fields of the society.Education is also the case.The emergence of various high-tech,well-developed transportation broadens the human living space and narrows the distance around the world.The influence of postmodern view of knowledge on human is becoming increasingly expanded.In this case,the professinal education in university does not fit the requirement of the development of the time.The education of the students need strengthen the comprehensive knowledge of the students.General education at school is necessary.University students are the mainstream of a nation.Their concept of knowledge, values, and outlook on life have a great effect on the rise and fall of the country. Strengthening the general education of students not only adapts to the development of the time,but also satisfies the need of transportation of people.The correct understanding of the general eaducation under the concept of postmodern knowledge means a lot to the reasearch of the general education of university students and the discussion on the development of the general education of university students.This article focuses on the concept of post-modern knowledge and university general education on the basis of analysing literature.By analysing the influence that the concept of post-modern knowledge have on general education,and the investigation on the development of university general education,some suggesiontions and views about the further development of our country's general education in the future are given in this article.The thesis consists of a introductory part and a text of four parts,the introductory part mainly gives an account of postmodern knowledge views domestically and overseas, the current research situation of general education, and the significance of combining both. The first of the text elaborates the significance of general education through investigating its concept and characteristics as well as makes definitions of general education and some related concepts. The second part mainly analyze some postmodern theories concerning knowledge views and its features of all aspects in a step-by-step manner, for the sake of getting the overall influence of postmodern knowledge views upon general education. In the hope of what are the matters we should consider in the development process of our general education.The third part uses some instances of developing our country's general education and takes the development status of general education in America as its example.The last part gives some appropriate suggestions on continuously carrying on general education in China from the aspects of ideology, classroom teaching, teachers and students, in accordance with the previous part of investigations and analysis and by using the characteristics and impact of postmodern knowledge views.
