With the rapid development of information technology, the growing popularity of the network as well as the putting forward of life-long learning, online learning is gradually becoming an important way of learning, followed by evaluation of online learning has become the subject of attention. The traditional evaluation methods can not meet the needs for evaluation of online learning; therefore, evaluation content, evaluation methods, evaluation tools as well as evaluation purposes have to make adjustments in order to make an accurate evaluation of the learning situation and promote the development of learners.The core of multiple intelligence theory is to promote the multiple intelligence development of learners, and the purpose of evaluation is also to promote the development of learners. Since they have a common goal, using multiple intelligence theory to guide evaluation is practicable; while learning evaluation is a sub-area of educational evaluation, hence using multiple intelligence theory to guide evaluation of online learning has its feasibility.This paper discusses evaluation principles, evaluation methods, evaluation of content of online learining under the guidance of multiple intelligence theory and evaluation view of multiple intelligence theory. Evaluation of online learning is based on objectives of online learning, make value judgments to learning process and learning outcome for the purpose of promoting the learners'development; the contents of which mainly include the evaluation of online learning platform, online learning resources, learners and teachers. The paper based on these four aspects to build an online learning evaluation system with the core of learners evaluation in the hope of providing some guidance for online learning evaluation.
