Evaluation,which is of vital significance to promote the growth and development of pupils, is an important part of the implementation of curriculum. However, as to the current practice of our teaching, there are many defects existing in aspects such as purposes, contents, methods background of evaluation. For example, the function concentrated in teaching material; the evaluating of promoting students'development is insufficient, the contents of evaluation is exclusively concentrated in teaching material ; the evaluating methods are so sole that the pupils are passive in the process; the interaction and understanding are insufficient of students became a key part in current education reform.This thesis gives a brief introduction of Howard Gardner's Theory of Multiple Intelligences, firstly, then introduces the application of this theory in students evaluation of American elementary and secondary schools. The author analyzes several successful cases that were guided by the theory of multiple intelligences in American. The first case is Exposition for Excellence school, including the curriculum guided by the theory of multiple intelligence, the plan of individual goal evaluating, the appraisal of homework samples. The second case is the Key Learning Community, which establishes elective course of Peas Team, sets up student progress reports and evaluating criteria for graduation. The third case is Lincoln High School, which adopts variable evaluating means such as appraisal system of studying files. After that, both positive and negative experiences are summarized. With this understanding, the author probes critically and reflectively into the current situation of student Evaluation in our country since the initiation of new curriculum reform and puts forward some advices. The purpose of this thesis lies in borrowing the successful experiences of evaluation guided by the theory of multiple intelligences in American, so as to promote the realization of the new conception about student evaluation that were emphasized in new curriculum reform.
