In the 21th century, with the great changes of the word's structure, the international relationship is generally getting rid of the cold-war model, and goes towards the open, communicating, and cooperating way.Under the environment of golablization and informatization, the world's economy grows rapidly. And English, as a effective language tool, becomes more and more important. As a neighbouring country of China, Korea has a very close relationship with China since the ancient time. Both of the countries have the familiar culture, therefore since 1992 when two countries formally establish diplomatic relations, China and Korea have more and more communications on the aspects of politics, economy, culture, education etc. So it's obvious that studying the English education of Korea is significant to the development of China's English education.This dissertation focuses on the Korea's English curriculum after its liberation. The author divided the history of Korea into the period of American military government and the very beginning of the foundation of Korea, the new military government period, and the democratization period. Through the method of document analysis, historical research, and content analysis, the author tries to know the history and current situation of Korea's English curriculum during the compulsory education stage, to find out the evolvement of its ideology, to straighten out the relationship between English curriculum and the development of the whole country, and therefore to sum up the inspiration to China's English curriculum reformation.This dissertation mainly consists of five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, in which the author raises the questions, describes the studying trends, illustrates the Purpose and Significance of this study, and defines some concepts.From chapter two to chapter four, the auhor analyses the English curriculum's background, aims, contents, and characteristic. The author pays much attention on the relations between English curriculum and the national and educational conditions. The author also analyses whether the contents can fit the aims of the curriculum.Chapter 5 is the conclusion part, where the auhor sums up the evolvement of the modern Korea's English curriculum, and gives some inspirations to the China's English curriculum. The inspirations are as follows:Firstly, attach importance to the quality-oriented education and develop the learner-centered education. Secondly, asistant to the "three facing" and develop the gobalization and informatization oriented curriculum. Thirdly, increase the English education investment and close the regional gap and reduce the after-class instruction. Fourthly, pay attention to the evolving purposes and process oriented purposes. And lastly, strengthen the communicative ability and attach more importance on Cultural Understanding education.
